ABOUT US

Woodward Optical’s approach to eyewear ensures that your spectacles suit you and your lifestyle. Because your optical needs are unique to you, our fully qualified and experienced professionals take time to find frames and lenses that are the perfect fit. Woodward Optical uses only the best lens options and the latest technologies available.

At Woodward Optical eyecare is just as important. So that our optometrist can thoroughly investigate your eyes and eye health our standard appointment time is 45 minutes. This results in a comprehensive treatment plan for your visual and ocular needs. Our optometrist can treat sore eyes, remove foreign objects, and address many other concerns you may have about your eyes. We also prescribe contact lenses, again using the latest available options.

Because you deserve to look great, see great, and feel great.

WHO WE ARE

Jim Blakeley

Jim Blakeley

FBDO, Dispensing Optician
Jim has been part of Woodward Optical since 2002. Originally from UK, he began his career in optics in 1992 and graduated as a Dispensing Optician there in 1995. He has worked for large corporate groups and small independent practices, and much prefers the service that being independent offers. He is knowledgeable in ensuring the best outcomes possible for frames and lenses, and gets quite nerdy when sorting out the more unusual spectacle prescriptions.
When he’s not working, his two daughters keep him busy, and he likes to strum the ukulele when he can. He volunteers at the local primary school running the ukulele orchestra there. One day he hopes to get reasonably good at playing.
Fraser Stevenson

Fraser Stevenson

BMLSc, BOptom (Hons), CertOcPharm (Therapeutics)
Fraser is proudly from Dunedin and shifted to Wellington after graduating from Optometry School in 2004. After gaining experience working for a group practice he joined Woodward Optical in 2010 and became a partner in 2018.
Fraser enjoys all aspects of optometric care including ocular pathology investigations, contact lens fitting and treatment of red eye conditions. Fraser is therapeutically qualified which means he is able to prescribe topical medicines to treat most Red Eye problems without the need to see your GP or an ophthalmologist.
At home Fraser enjoys spending quality time with his wife and dogs, and still supports the Highlanders.

EYEWEAR

Woodward Optical searches the world for the highest quality eyewear. We stock a large and varied collection of frames to meet any style and fitting needs. We have many ranges that are exclusive to us in Wellington and we are always updating our stock to make sure you have the latest styles to choose from.

As you are unique, we take into account your needs, age, and face shape, plus our extensive knowledge of spectacle lens and lens treatment options to make you the best pair of spectacles we can.

We understand that one size doesn’t fit all. For a spectacle wearer, your frames are crucial. They are the one accessory you wear every day and the one that everyone will immediately notice. This is especially true for Zoom meetings!

Contact Lens Fitting, including soft and hard lens options for the correction of myopia and hyperopia (longsightedness), astigmatism, multifocals for presbyopia, and options for Keratoconus and post-corneal grafts.

Myopia Control options to help slow down myopia progression in children and teenagers.
